Issues: Defending Freedom
I believe that our country has been the greatest force for freedom and democracy in history. We safeguard these freedoms through the daily sacrifice, strength, and commitment of the men and women in uniform and with your support at home. I am proud of my service as a Captain in the U.S. Army. I am even prouder of my daughter who is currently serving in the U.S. Navy. Because of my family’s personal investment in protecting our liberty, and my pride in our country, I believe we must wholeheartedly support our fighting men and women. We must give them the tools necessary for victory. My commitment didn’t stop with my active service. As an elected representative for the Capital District, I sponsored successful legislation that eased access to educational opportunities for National Guard members. Likewise, I ensured quality in the health care provided to our veterans. We are fighting a different kind of war than in the past, yet the stakes are just as high. We need leaders who promote American values rather than apologize for them—leaders who will defend our freedom by ensuring that our military is second to none. The one thing our government must do—and do well—is protect our nation from enemies, both foreign and domestic. Return to Issues |
